Singer Halsey is to freeze her eggs due to chronic endometriosis, she recently told American television show, Doctors
The decision was taken by the 23-year-old after she suffered a miscarriage.
She said during an interview: “I was on tour, and I found out I was pregnant.
“Before I could really figure out what that meant to me and what that meant for my future, for my career, for my life, for my relationship, the next thing I knew I was on stage miscarrying in the middle of my concert.”
At an early age, Halsey’s mother had told her that everyone had really painful periods and that it was something to get used to.
During touring she collapsed after being in excruciating pain and ended up in hospital. For quite a while she felt she wasn’t being taken seriously and was misdiagnosed on several occasions. It wasn’t until she met Dr Aliabadi that she was diagnosed with endometriosis.
She told the panel of experts: “It was so bittersweet, because the relief of knowing I wasn’t making it all up, and I wasn’t being sensitive, and it wasn’t all in my head. But also it sucked because this was something I was going to have to live with for the rest of my life.”
The Grammy-nominated singer said she sought treatment after the miscarriage and now feels a lot better.
She decided to freeze her eggs to protect her fertility and make sure she could have the family she desired in the future
She said: “Taking these measures to make sure that I get to have a hopefully bright future and achieve the things that I want to achieve by doing the ovarian reserve is really important.”
